Ice Cream Friday

Ice Cream Friday...
This week we had been exploring the letter i and practicing the short and long sound.  In math we were working on ways to make 10 and in science learned about different states of matter… so I thought it would be exciting to make some ice cream to celebrate!  We made our ice cream in a bag and shook it like crazy to turn it to a solid!  Students loved the process and the product!  Lots of smiles!

I just posted the ice cream math on teachers pay teacher.  Students picked a scoop of ice cream and had to find which other scoop made 10.  Two different levels are included, number version and dot version.  Students picked based on their level and some students mixed dots and number.

The ice cream worksheet was a simple follow up I used while I cleaned up the ice cream making mess.  Students drew circles to represent scoops of ice cream and then recorded the sum in the cone.
 Another fun Friday….

  1. I have never tried ice cream in a bag. We may have to try it this year. Love your making 10 activity :)

  2. It's a great lesson to tie in measurement and science. This year I sent home a gallon ziplock bag with each kid and told them they had to return it full of ice for a science experiment.
